To conference with your
child’s teacher, a time must be arranged with the teacher, as teachers
may not conference during instructional time. Our office staff will be
happy to forward your name and phone number to the teacher, who will
then call you to set up an appointment.
Sammons is not a
standard dress/uniform school. Please remember that we emphasize
neatness in dress, which means that no over sized or baggy pants as well
as tops that hang down to the knees will be allowed. Tops are to be
tucked in and bare stomach may not be exposed. Also, flip-flops and
tennis shoes with wheels are not allowed. Please make sure your child’s
shoes are comfortable and allow for active and safe participation in
Arrival at School
When visiting the
campus, you must use the front entrance. All visitors must report to the
front office and present proper identification (driver’s license or
state ID), every time they visit the building. This procedure, plus our
cameras, increases the security and safety of our building.
do not send your child to school before 7:00 a.m. as there is no one on
duty to supervise the students. Breakfast starts at 7:15 a.m. and ends
at 7:45 a.m. Teachers pick up their students at 7:45 a.m. to begin the
instructional day. If your child arrives at school after 8:00 a.m.,
he/she is tardy. Please have your child at school on time every day.
driving your child to (and from) school, you must use the car rider
ramp located by the teacher’s parking lot. A set of cones will be placed
in the middle of the ramp so we can accommodate two lanes of traffic.
Having two lanes of traffic has helped alleviate the congestion problem.
Our car ramp closes at 8:00 a.m. After that time, you must drop off
your student at the front of the building and escort them to the
Dismissal in the Afternoon
Please make sure that
your child’s teacher knows, in writing, how your child is to go home.
The teacher must be made aware of any changes in writing.
checking students out for early dismissal you must report to the office
with proper identification to pick up your child. No child will be
dismissed to you from the classroom. In order for us to provide a safe
and secure environment for our students, you must be in the office by
2:45 p.m. to pick up your child for early dismissal. After 2:50 p.m. no
child will be dismissed unless it is an emergency approved by one of the
administrators. A doctor’s appointment is not an emergency. Your
child’s grades may be affected if he/she habitually misses the last part
of the day, therefore, please do not pick up your child early in order
to avoid our dismissal procedures.
If your child DOES have a
doctor’s appointment during the day, he/she will NOT be counted as
absent as long as you bring a note from the doctor when you bring your
child to school that same day.
In order that you may better plan your time of arrival for dismissal, the following schedule is provided:
3:00 p.m. Car Riders and Day Care Buses
3:15 p.m Bus dismissal begins
